‘Cowboy Bob’ was known for robbing banks without a weapon and escaping within 60 seconds. The cops eventually caught Bob, who was actually a middle- aged woman in a hat, sunglasses, and fake beard named Peggy Jo Tallas. After serving her prison sentence, she robbed another bank, got caught by police, pulled out a toy gun, and was shot dead- having never once used a weapon for her crimes.
Family and friends said she had the most loving heart…
…but even growing up, she never wanted to conform or follow the rules.
Seriously, tho – she pulled it off.
The first time she was caught, the cops kept asking her where she was hiding the man. Even after finding the beard and hat in her closet, they kept asking her who she was hiding.
“Come on, Peggy Jo, you’re hiding a man from us,” Powell said.
She gave him a look. “There isn’t any man,” she said. “I promise you that.”
